Did you know that most people fear public speaking more than death? I used to be one of those people. My heart would race, sweat would build up below my arm pits, my mouth would go dry, and my legs and voice would tremble whenever it was my turn to take the mic.
I remember in 2013, I was keynoting a women’s empowerment event. I was so nervous that I couldn’t even think about what I was going to say.
It seemed like my body could only focus on surviving the moment but not strategizing my remarks. I remember leaving the room to gather my composure for about 30 minutes before I was scheduled to speak. I was boardline hyperventilating!
